Whirlwind Love Hollie Folly Volume 3 DiDi Hendley 9780991543250 Books

The is a story about a young woman whose dream in life was to become a famous country singer. she was struggling to make ends meet staying at a friend's lighthouse Bar & Lounge playing for her keep when she came across the deal of a lifetime the only problem was she had to be in Los Angeles in two weeks time and her road to get there was paved with hard days and even harsher nights.

Plagued by the harsh reminder of what transpired one rainy night, she struggles with ghostly voices and phantom odors. I believe this story touches on the after-effects of trauma, from nightmares and panic attacks to the journey of healing, although some pretty amazing shoes may have helped her in that. Despite her turmoil, she put everything that she had into making that gig that could jump-start her career. Things get rather bleak for Hollie, and just when she loses faith, fate steps in and shows her it just might be worth it to keep going.

Keeping Things Hot!:
Certain events weren't detailed but gave enough to know what's happening and to really help you connect with Hollie on a deeper level.
Hollie's storing really has a very strong emotional appeal to it. You feel her struggles; you feel her pain. When she is happy, you are right there with her.
The road Hollie takes to get to L.A. doesn't seem too dark. It isn't too light. It has a healthy balance of both weaving their way through her two-week journey and then some.
This book does a great job of showcasing just how hard it is for musicians to work their butts off for years trying to make it in the industry only to pretty much make it overnight.
The cover is fantastic. I love that Hollie is headed toward a sky that is both threatening of a storm but also depicts sunnier days and hope ahead.

Cooling Things Down:
I feel like Hollie's naivety when dealing with the trucker is almost too far-fetched, even for a small town girl. She's weary of him had caught him eyeing her too many times to not pay attention to his actions.
She very conveniently meets these angels who help her out and pretty much save her. I feel very torn on considering this Keeping it Hot item or a Cooling it Down. It is fairytale like, especially with the special person she meets in LA who takes her into a very unique home, so it doesn’t seem that realistic; however, that’s how it is in the music business. One connection can lead to others and the next thing you know years of hard work can pay off with a moment of chance.
There were a few things I wanted to know more about, but as this is a series and I haven’t read the first two, I can’t attest to whether or not those were previously addressed or will be in future books.

Overall: (I did receive a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review) I give this story a 4-star rating. I felt there were some parts that seemed to fall into place a little too nicely, but overall it was a good story. A testament to the hardships singer/songwriters must go through trying to make ends meet while searching for that elusive big break. It touches on dark subjects, but not too deeply. I had a little trouble getting into it at first, but after that I really enjoyed reading Hollie’s story and had a hard time putting it down.

I read books 1 and 2, and enjoyed them very much--so knowing this was the next in the series I couldn’t wait for it’s release. Hollie is a young lady, looking for her big break in music. She got a chance to perform on a cruise ship, and she was excited. This story is about her following her dream—looking for her big break. I hope you’ll get it and enjoy it as much as I did.
this is one of the best books I have read in a long time. Just when I got comfortable, it got even more hypnotic. This is one you will NOT want to put down. Trust me, it is that good. I traveled with Holly, listened to Joe, felt Chuck's pain, and now I have walked beside Hollie! And loved it all. Many thanks to this magnificent author for restoring my interest in broadening my imaginative horizon!
Hollie's Folly is truly a roller coaster of events. Having read Book 1 & Book 2 in this series, I was eager to follow yet another character through her life's journeys in Book 3. Hollie's travels from the east coast to the west coast are met with heartbreaking incidents that sadly are part of our world's make-up. Her struggle to overcome & triumph is inspiring. This was a story of one artist's determination to follow her dreams, to take stock in her own personal strength, have belief in her talent, and maintain an admirable stubbornness to persevere. I urge you to travel with Hollie and lose yourself in her story. You will enjoy the trip!
Gifted guitarist Hollie Hayes is on a deadline, and has to leave coastal Georgia and lifelong friends to travel 3,000 miles in a few short days so that the opportunity of a lifetime (she thinks) doesn't pass her by. Short on money but with a lot of heart, Hollie has no idea of the obstacles that will drop in front of her like boulders. One situation that befalls her is one that many writers have unsuccessfully tried to write about, and I usually put a book down when it's done wrong (a lot). But Hendley does not do it wrong, and in fact, she masters the art of writing about haunting and violent subjects in a thought-provoking way. Hendley leaves the reader with so much genuine respect and love for Hollie's grit and determination. At issue is Hollie's survival, and how she keeps moving despite the unthinkable. The characters are well-developed and complex, the sense of place is so real that I feel like I traveled with Hollie, and the quick pace made me read the novel in one sitting. Very well done, and I can't wait to read Hendley's next novel. Bravo!
